Daniela Puppa
Daniela Puppa received her degree in Archictecture from the "Politecnico" University of Milan and she mainly works in the industrial design, fashion design and interior design fields. In 1972 Daniela Puppa was part of the editorial staff of the architectural magazine "Casabella" directed by Alessandro Mendini. In 1976 she joined the "Modo" design magazine project of which she was the editor-in-chief, from 1981 to 1983.
She first worked in the field of design in cooperation with the avantgarde movements of Alchimia and Memphis with whom she attended exhibits and events in the period of the radical design. Her works include: Designs for Memphis, Tendente, Driade, Cappellini, Vistosi, Roset, Brunati and Arflex; A collection of rugs for Sisal Collezioni; A collection of handles on the "New Styles" theme for Valli & Valli; A set of kitchens for Tokyo Kitchen (Japan); A collection of table objects for the Japanese Tachikichi. For Baroviera & Toso, she designed objects and lamps in glass and has coordinated a group of designers for new product development. She designed textile collections for Alchimia. For Limonta and other textile companies she carried out their projects by researching new artificial materials and using the technologies and fabrics from the fashion of world by applying them to the field of furnishing design. Besides renovating private houses, she designed in collaboration with Franco Raggi exhibits stands, sale points, and showrooms, some of which were for FontanaArte as part of international exhibits; the Via Montenapoleone showroom in Milan and the Los Angeles showroom. Among others, Daniela Puppa worked for the Granciclismo store in Milan and Viareggio, the Henry Cotton’s pilot store in Saint Tropez and the Gianfranco Ferré stores.
Daniela Puppa designed Ratti’s new design offices in Guanzate (Italy) and its outlet point. For Braghenti (located in Malnate, Italy) she designed the interiors and the showrooms. She designed Morassutti/Metropolis' sale points and she managed the product collections and updated them to the always evolving company's image. From 1985 to 1991 Daniela Puppa was responsible for the global image of the Croff (Rinascente Group) furnishing store chain and for them she coordinated the research and the style trend of all their products. From 1997 to 1999 she was a consultant for the Habitat collection/product designing project. She designs the fashion accessories for Arte e Lavoro (Kyoto). As an artistic director at Nazareno Gabrielli she oversaw the care of the leather collections and some of their sportware. Between 1989 and 2001 Daniela Puppa managed the Gianfranco Ferré accessories collection. Since 1993 she has designed the leather accessories for the Maison Christian Dior. She lectures at "Domus Academy", of which she has been the director to their Fashion Design department. She teaches hands-on work-shops and she coordinates Masters for designing. Daniela Puppa is currently faculty in the Industrial Design at the "Politecnico" University of Milan, where she lectures and supervises projects which show the connections between the fashion and the design businesses. She has held lectures and work-shops in Italy, Japan and USA.
She is a member of the jury for different contests such as the International luggage design competition held in Tokyo, Japan. Daniela Puppa designs for FontanaArte the lamps Charms, Olimpia, Pelota, Piccola San, Prima Signora, Small, Medium, XL, Tank, the tables Ercole and Ercolino, and many other products.
