The company Catellani & Smith was established in 1989 in Italy and originated in the idea of two self-made designers who wanted to create breath-taking splendid light fittings. The company was established on the basic idea of modifying the shape of light fittings to something beautiful and functional. In Catellani & Smith, they play with light and shadow casting with the objective of creating perfect and unconventional light fittings that attract attention. The light fittings are characterised by manual manufacture, inspiration from nature and renewal of old technologies combined with modern elements.
