FONTANA ARTE
The history of the company Fontana Arte extends back to 1932. The company was established by Luigi Fontana, the owner of a significant glass factory, and Giovanni "Giò" Ponti. Giovanni Ponti had been experimenting continuously with new ways of defining modern design. His conception of design was fulfilled by Pietro Chiesa. The cooperation of these two people made the company Fontana Arte an important player in developing the early modern Italian design illumination and apartment accessories.
Fontana Arte produces design light fittings and furniture of the highest quality. It accentuates quality workmanship and timeless design. Significant artists, among whom David Chipperfield, Foster + Partners studio, Renzo Piano, Daniela Puppa or the Future Systems architectural studio (established by Jan Kaplický, a Czech architect), connected their names with the company Fontana Arte.
In 2012, Fontana Arte celebrated its 80th anniversary. This year also brought additional successes. The YUMI floor lamp, designed by Shigeru Ban, the Japanese architect, was selected for publication in ADI Design Index 2012. The YUMI floor lamp received the Golden Compass Award.
